VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old Port Orange man faces three felony criminal-mischief charges after investigators alleged that three Flock license-plate reader cameras were deliberately damaged in separate incidents.
What the affidavit alleges
According to a four-page charging affidavit filed in Volusia County Circuit Court, a Volusia sheriff’s deputy discovered a damaged Flock license-plate reader on August 4, 2026, near Pioneer Trail and Airport Road in New Smyrna Beach. The affidavit states that the pole appeared to have been cut near its base, causing the camera to fall to the ground. Investigators later estimated the damage to that unit at approximately $2,050.
The affidavit says detectives reviewed license-plate reader reports, surveillance footage and location information during the investigation. Authorities allege that Brooks was connected to a black Chevrolet Suburban captured in the area and to two additional damaged Flock cameras investigated by Port Orange police.
The allegations resulted in three separate counts of criminal mischief involving damage of $1,000 or more. The Volusia County booking record lists arrest-case numbers PO260004387, VP260016720 and PO260004412. Each count carried a listed $2,500 bond.
