A New Smyrna Beach High School guardian is facing four felony charges after an investigation that began with concerns about photographs being taken on campus, according to a New Smyrna Beach Police Department affidavit and Volusia County court records.
Denis O'Neill Keeran, 50, was booked on October 10, 2026, under booking number 1184914. Volusia County Clerk records show an open felony case, 2026 106583 CFDB.
What the affidavit alleges
The affidavit says the investigation began October 7 after a school resource officer reported concerns about Keeran photographing students on campus. According to the filing, Keeran consented to an initial review of his phone. Investigators later obtained a search warrant and conducted a forensic examination.

Police allege that the phone contained videos depicting adult women engaged in sexual activity involving animals. The current Clerk docket lists four counts of filming or possessing an image or video of animal sexual activity under section 828.126(6), Florida Statutes. Each count is listed as a third-degree felony.
The affidavit says investigators found well over 100 photographs of female students taken on campus during roughly a 45-minute period on October 7. It also describes an excessive number of photographs of New Smyrna Beach High School female students. The investigating officer wrote that the reviewed photographs of minors were not considered sexually suggestive and did not violate Florida law. The filed criminal counts concern the alleged animal-sex-activity videos.
Current case status
The 2026 felony case remains open. The Clerk lists an arraignment and bond hearing for November 3, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. before Judge A. Christian Miller at the Justice Center. No plea or final disposition is listed as of October 14, 2026.
