Officer Gabriel Ornellas-Victorio is accused of battery after investigators say he kissed the teen during a meeting in April. The affidavit states the two initially met while the girl was working, where the officer reportedly spoke with her regularly and positioned himself as a mentor. Authorities say the pair later arranged to meet at a Barnes & Noble on South Tamiami Trail. The teen told investigators she got into Ornellas’ vehicle, believing they would talk over coffee. While parked, she reported that the officer made her uncomfortable and ultimately kissed her on the lips against her will. According to the report, the girl immediately left the vehicle and returned to her mother, who had been waiting nearby. She later questioned the officer via text message about his actions. Detectives used traffic camera data to help confirm the officer’s movements that day. Based on the findings, investigators determined there was probable cause to charge Ornellas-Victorio with battery under Florida law.
